It was a good year
People love doing things under the influence these days, driving, dancing, writing, shouting, passing out etc. There’s something about it – perhaps, as experience has shown, the right to blame it all on the wine. Or other things, like…films or why not music.
2006 marks a year of great musical accomplishments. Bad artists have reformed themselves and become something close to good, maybe even enjoyable. Former entertainers of preteens like Justin Timberlake and even Christina Aguilera managed to bestow upon us, the waiting listening crowd, something worth listening to. Meie Mees finally broke up, Terminaator hasn’t produced anything, Elva Legend or Parasite Crew hasn’t showed its blaspheming ass and Tanel Padar is doing his best not to embarrass the “proud Estonian nation”. Although some producers have become too common amongst songs of today, people like Timbaland. The man is a genius, he manages to create great beats for songs but doesn’t it strike you as a tad annoying that pretty much everything is his production these days. Can’t blame the “poor” man of course, he is doing it for the sake of money and as it leads on from there, the pussy, but I think next year it would benefit us all, diversify the music scene if he decided to diminish his appearances on songs. I think somebody of his stature should base his work on artists that are the flagships of the industry not every sodding artist with a few words for lyrics and a few ideas for a rhythm. Would be great for his PR (and PR is the dominating force of the society these days) to be a producer for the elite. There is a fine line between being Timbaland, the man who scarcely appears but only on the tracks that are basically…the shit, rather than Timbaland, the man whose name can be seen on every piece of work creeping out of the polluting mouth of Universal Productions. But to sum it all up 2006 has been and still is a great year even though the mainstream nation of the world is only capable of playing 2 songs from the great 28 that the Chilipeppers let out this year.
